(PMAC-AMPC.CA) December 9, 2009 - The Certification Body of the Project Management Association of Canada is pleased to announce that for the very first time in history, a Canadian has received an IPMA certification in Canada.
While many Canadians have received IPMA certifications over the years, they have done so through applying through foreign project management associations (such as the Association for Project Management in the UK and the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management in the USA) or have applied directly to IPMA, since up until recently Canada did not have its own IPMA member association.
The Project Management Association of Canada (PMAC) was accepted as the Canadian member association of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) earlier this year, and has worked diligently to bring IPMA's international standards and competency assessments to Canada. The association had its first IPMA Level-D exam on December 5, 2009 and has future Level-D exams scheduled across the country throughout 2010. Individual competency assessments at higher levels (A through C) are available now, requiring personal interviews, project reports, skills/experience assessments, and other requirements.
Details on the four levels of IPMA project manager competency certification are available at the association's web site at: www.PMAC-AMPC.ca/competency

Capital Project Cost Control
by Morley Selver
Project cost control is a very important topic — even more important when the project budgets can often stretch into the hundreds of millions (even billions) of dollars and small mistakes can get magnified into huge problems. This DVD is a live recording of a webinar by Morley Selver, known as "The Project Doctor," who has over 30 years of real-world plant project engineering experience.
Selver has donated all author royalties from the sale of this DVD to the PMAC.
